2010 Young Poets Contest

YOUNG POETS 2010

STUDENT RULES AND REGISTRATION FORM

1. You may submit only one poem, which is no longer than one page.
2. Write your own original poem. DO NOT COPY ANY PART OF SOMEONE ELSE’S WORK.  This is 
    plagiarism, and you will be disqualified.
3. Type or print your poem neatly on 8 ˝ x 11 paper.  No artwork, please.
4. Put your name, grade, and library name in the upper right hand corner of your poem.
5. Fill out the registration form at the bottom of this page. Cut it on the dotted line and staple
    it to the upper left-hand corner of your poem.
6. Submit your poem to the library by January 31, 2009.
7. Three winners (First, Second, and Third Places will be awarded at each grade level.
   Grades 1-6: First prize--$25             Grades 7-12: First prize--$50
                         Second prize--$15                                 Second prize--$25
                         Third prize--$10                                     Third prize--$15
8. Poems become the property of the Reading Public Library and WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
    The Reading Public Library retains the first rights for publication of prize-winning poems.
9. Each first, second, and third place winner will also receive a certificate, a ribbon, and a
    copy of the Young Poets 2010 booklet at a poetry celebration to be held in April. 
10. Three honorable mention winners will also be chosen for each grade level and will receive a certificate.

Winners will be asked to read their poems aloud at the celebration.

Deadline to hand in poems is January 31st  Winners will be announced sometime in March.
A Poetry Celebration for the winners will be held in April
